Orientalism under Maugham’s Veil -The Interpretation of Orientalism in The Painted Veil

Abstract
The Painted Veil shows the misunderstandings and prejudices of Westerners towards the East.This paper attempts to apply Said’s postcolonial theory to analyse the Orientalist identity as the Other and the Western identity as the Self,and tries to explore the colonialist ideology embodied in the novel.
